Greetings,
I want to start off by saying
congratulations to Julie Allison for being chosen as this years
"Person of The Year"! It was announced at the January luncheon and
it was obvious that she was taken by surprise by the announcement.
This is a well deserved recognition for her hard work and
dedication. Julie is the first one to offer a helping hand, whether
it be for a chamber function, a charity fundraiser, or any one of
the many community events she always takes part in. The chamber and
the City of Romulus are very fortunate to have her involved with us.
Please come out and join us in the celebration to honor her on April
23 at the Crowne Plaza.
Thank you to State Senator Raymond
Basham for being our quest speaker in January. The luncheon was well
attended, as expected, and we all wished the Senator well as he
closes out this chapter of his political career and moves on to the
next. What ever he decides to get involved with you can bet that he
will make a positive impact on it.
The Guest speaker for our February
16th luncheon will be Mike Conway, the Director of Public Relations
for Metro Airport. He will be giving an update on changes at the
airport and discussing airport security. Make your reservations with
Karen at the chamber office.
If you are tired of hiding in the
house from old man winter, dust off that bowling ball and come out
join us for a fun night out. We will be having our annual "Bowling
Fundraiser" on February 20 at Lodge Lanes on South I-94 Service Dr.
Registration starts at 7:30 pm. Tickets can be purchased at the
chamber or from any board member. Door prizes, pizza, and bowling
for $20.00 per person. I hope to see you there.
Don't forget to mark you calendar for
the "Silent Auction & Wine Tasting Dinner" to be held on March 12th
at the Crown Plaza. Chuck Zuerner will be the "Host of Ceremonies"
and I think he is going to pull a rabbit out of his hat for you.
This is always a very special event and we are expecting a large
crowd so make your reservations early.
We are currently working on the new
directory and it should be available in the near future. Also, in an
attempt to help stimulate the local economy, we have coupon books
that are valued at $500.00 on sale now for just $1.00 at the chamber
office. These can be used at many local restaurants and businesses
in Romulus. You can't go wrong on this one.
As always, we are interested in
hearing any suggestions on how the chamber can better serve its
members. If you have an idea that you would like to share with us,
please do not hesitate to contact any board member or the chamber
office. We are always looking to improve.
Thank you for your continued support.
Sincerely,
Terry Bridges
